Foulard = fou de l’art

Tell me: What is more suitable for the reproduction of a painting than another fabric? People in fashion and in culture are well aware of this.

Almond blossoms
What would van Gogh say if he saw his work The Almond Blossoms (painted in 1890 on the occasion of the birth of his nephew), draped around lots of necks and shoulders? At the official webstore of the van Gogh museum in Amsterdam, visitors with a small and larger budget can purchase a silk or wool  almond blossoms of the Great Vincent. The van Gogh museum is one of the many galleries that scan the new opportunities of their collection today. Personally, I love the idea that the old masters continue to live beyond the gallery walls. In addition, the museums can use this extra revenue to better fulfil their role in the future!

Life
“Life can not be put on hold and it can not be controlled”. dixit Delphine Boël at her work Life. Nevertheless, the artisan likes to take charge of her life. She recently launched her wearable art collection. As a result, you can buy the same piece of art, we saw recently in the Elsene Museum (140 cm x 71 cm, Chinese and Acrylic paint on Chinese paper), in Habotai silk (90X180 cm). Based on the number of shops that already sell her scarves, the initiative seems to be successful.

Two sailors
Actually, we were in Elsene to see Pierre et Gilles’s works. Pierre et Gilles embody a highly sophisticated art of the portrait, somewhere between photography and painting. These two French soulmates and life companions have been making art for 40 years with kitch, color and humor as most important ingredients. Stromae, Kylie Minogue, Catherine Deneuve are just some of the many celebrities to be seen in their fantasy world. You can visit the exhibition until the 14th of May.

Perhaps we can buy our own Pierre et Gilles scarf soon? For me a satin Stromae carré please, to match with my pink dress!
